Education in Chennai

Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, is dotted with many educational and research institutions. The city has been ranked amongst the topmost places for pursuing engineering courses in India. It is home to one of the top ranked engineering colleges in India - Indian institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). Some schools in Chennai are counted amongst the top schools in India. School Education in Chennai
Schools in Chennai are under the governance of either the Govt. of Tamil Nadu or run privately. The medium of instruction is English in private schools, while the govt. schools have opted for Tamil as the medium of education, though English is also taught in such schools. Tamil Nadu State Board has granted affiliated to private and govt. schools in Tamil Nadu, while a few of them are affiliated to the CBSE board, ICSE Board, NIOS Board, Anglo-Indian and the Montessori System.
